Representation & Advocacy role on behalf of more than 45 Olympic and/or Paralympic National Sport Organizations (NSOs) within the Canadian sport system. Co-Chairs represent the NSOs in various forums, working groups and meetings including with the Government of Canada (Ministry of Sport), Sport Canada, the Canadian Olympic Committee, and the Canadian Paralympic Committee.

Hires, develops and retains a world-class coaching and senior technical staff to support and field winning teams in international competition and provides the necessary oversight to all programs.Serves as the primary spokesperson for WPC.Act as primary WPC contact with funding partners and other national organizations (Sport Canada, Canadian Olympic Committee, Own the Podium, Canadian Olympic & Paralympic Sport Institute Network, Aquatics Canada, Provincial Sport Organizations, etc.) and international organizations (World Aquatics, Pan Am Aquatics, IOC, IPC etc.), and oversees the association’s internal and external communications. Develops collegial, fiscal, and partnership relationships with sister sports, the Canadian Olympic Committee, Own The Podium, selected Canadian Sport Institutes and World Aquatics.

The Canadian Sport Policy Renewal Working Group leads & manages the process for a renewed Canadian Sport Policy in 2022 and makes recommendations to the Federal/Provincial-Territorial (F-P/T) governments.

Member of Commonwealth Sport (Games) Canada High Performance Committee under Chair Marty Deacon. The Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Commonwealth Games Canada on various high performance issues.

Full time position focusing on the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games preparation and delivery including "At-Games Planning". Specifically working with the sliding sports - i.e. Bobsleigh, Skeleton, Luge - as well as with Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined.

Oversees the entire technical area (20+ employees incl full time coaching staff) with both the Olympic & Paralympic program head coaches reporting directly to him as well as the Director, National Team Programs and the Director, Coaching Development.Under his tenure as Chief High Performance Officer from Aug 2006 to Jan 2013, Athletics Canada has seen its country ranking at the Olympic Games jumping from the 34th (Athens 2004) to the 23rd (Beijing 2008) and then to the 15th (London 2012) position as well as a spectacular growth of its high performance program with annual budget reaching close to $5M and number of full time coaches increasing by 300%. At the time of the 2012 London Olympics overall results for the Canadian Athletics Team were the best since 1996. Number of Top 8 finishes, the best since 1988. Special focus on coaching education & overall coaching system building was a priority in Martin's approach as illustrated by the signing of a MOU with the Canadian Athletics Coaching Center based in Edmonton (a legacy of the 2001 IAAF World Championships)Strategic High Performance System planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in Olympic and Paralympic Sports at the National and International level.Conducts new positions interview & hiring process, staff reviews, etc.Responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the organization's High Performance plan & system as well as of the National Team Program strategies, policies and procedures.In charge of all high performance program partnerships (Own the Podium, Canadian Sport Centers and Institutes, Canadian Athletics Coaching Center, etc.), contracts and its entire budget.Has designed, prepared and led onsite projects in several countries including Brazil, China, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and the USA.

Full time employmentMartin was the head coach of Canada's Cross Country program from 1999 to 2006 and led Canada to the bronze medal in the women short course event at the 2004 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Brussels (BEL). This was the first cross country team medal for Canada at world cross in 20 years.Has designed, prepared and led onsite projects in several countries including Belgium, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.

Training of coaches especially in the North America Central America Caribbean area.

Appointed in September 1997. Played the combined role of Head Coach and Team Leader (Athletics) for the Games themselves. Designed, organized, and directed a pre-camp in Singapore prior to the Games for which Martin also played the role of Head of Delegation.
