Maha Shoaib is a PhD student in International Education Policy at the University of Maryland College Park. As a Research Fellow at Special Olympics and a Senior Fellow at the Global Campaign for Education-US, she focuses on critical issues including Education in Emergencies and Crises, Girls’ Education, Disability-Inclusive Education, and Education Financing. Maha is passionately engaged in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) through collaborative advocacy, strategic communications, and youth engagement initiatives.Maha’s journey in education began in her hometown of Islamabad, Pakistan, where she played a pivotal role in enhancing access to quality education in rural communities. By fostering partnerships with diverse stakeholders, she significantly improved educational access and quality, earning recognition at the United Nations' Transforming Education Summit 2022, where she was honored by the Teacher Task Force. Additionally, Maha has been actively involved in innovative climate education initiatives, which garnered her a place among the top 100 teacher-led solutions to climate change, recognized by Teachers for the Planet at the RewirED Summit during COP28.Holding a bachelor’s degree in economics, Maha brings valuable experience from her work with the Ministry of Finance in Pakistan and the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE). She is equipped with statistical tools and data analysis skills that enable her to assess the impact of educational programs effectively. Driven by a profound passion for creating sustainable education systems, Maha is dedicated to ensuring that every child has equitable opportunities to learn and thrive.
