Along my career path as the Country Head of Structured Banking and Country Head of Infrastructure and Public Sector for HSBC I have been privileged to build a team from 2 persons in 2014 to a seven person strong within a matter of 7 years and be able work together as a family that has arranged USD3 bln+ for infrastructure for public and private sector in Bangladesh covering sectors like power, aviation, satellite, textile and garments, food, fertilizer, industrial, etc. Worked extensively with various international institutions like MIGA, ICD, Proparco, different ECAs (export credit agencies) of Germany, Italy, Norway, France, Belgium, Japan, China, Switzerland etc in addition to HSBC’s global teams in Hongkong, UK and other Asian and regional sites. The involvement of Governments, Ministries and regulators are a part and parcel of any Infrastructure financing and I have the privilege to cover the Govt of Bangladesh relationships starting from various regulators (Bangladesh Bank, BEPZA, BIDA, BEZA, PPPA), SOEs, Ministries and all the way up to Prime Minister’s Office which has given me a unique scope to understand nuances of both side of the coin and thus have helped me to navigate in an efficient way to facilitate the customers. The team that I am in charge of is also responsible for leading the Sustainable Financing for HSBC Bangladesh where we have been pioneer in Bangladesh banking sector to introduce this product and thereby supporting a number of business houses to work together in a more responsible way for a better tomorrow for everyone.
