About Maria Maka
I recently graduated from Regis University! Woohoo!! While obtaining a degree in communication emphasizing in human communication, forming and developing meaningful relationships with others is what I value the most. I can't get enough of it! Being able to work personally with individuals and on a community level sparks the love I have for desiring to be a supporting guide to others, through thick and thin. It's safe to say that my "lightbulb" moment began when I volunteered at soup kitchens and led school retreats beginning in middle school. This sense of connectedness is my power supply. I interact with all kinds of characters and personalities on a daily basis. We're complicated. We are also fascinating. The way you talk to someone may not be the same way you talk to others. Have you ever noticed how defensive people become in conversation!After graduation, I plan to work with nonprofit organizations that focus on issues related to women. Obtaining a minor in women and gender studies has helped me identify the desire to encourage women to emit their own voice in a silencing world. I radiate a warm and inviting attitude. Harmony is one of my guiding values, so I tend to focus on down to earth matters. As an achiever, I am driven by teamwork and love to accept a thrilling challenge. After long days of communicating, I like to reward myself by exploring different states during the weekends and appreciating the many cultures!
