About Makita R. Phillips, Ph.D.

As a mechanical engineer, I gravitated toward the thermal fluids/heat transfer side. I enjoy solving problems that rely on the balance of thermal, electrical and structural responses. Previously, my research was focused on superconductors and how insulation material and design can affect their thermal management. Currently, I am interested in using multiferroic materials for waste heat energy harvesting and using thermal interface solutions to provide cooling and enhance the performance of electronic systems. As a leader I have served in many capacities that have allowed me to manage teams, work in cross-collaborative environments and develop programs and initiatives. I am interested in providing the support and tools to help others be successful. My passion for life is to help others and that has manifested itself through engineering and service. I will continue to participate in activities that satisfy those areas. Let's make the work a better place for all!
