As Co-Founder and CEO, I led a team of online marketers, designers and web developers to validate and grow an online freelancer marketplace focused on helping students develop relevant work experience. RCKTSHP.com was an online marketplace that helped small business hire local students for short-term projects. Over 50% of recent college graduates are jobless or underemployed. We attempted to help solve the age-old problem of students not being able to get a job because they don’t have experience, but can’t get experience because they don’t have a job. Businesses could post projects on RCKTSHP.com for free, while students registered as freelancers submitted proposals to apply and work on projects. When projects were completed, both employer and freelancer had the opportunity to rate and review each other, making their public profiles a digital resume.RCKTSHP won the 2015 Fundica Funding Road Show competition for Calgary and went on to compete in pitching to venture capital in Silicon Valley in 2015.

As the Marketing Director at Uppercut, I was responsible for the planning, development, implementation and optimization of marketing tactics for all client online campaigns. Notable clients included Thinkstock, iStockphoto and Nourish Organic. Tactics included: email, search (SEM + SEO), mobile, display, affiliate, content, on-site merchandizing as well as social media.I also ran the annual summer internship program at Uppercut for several years, which eventually evolved to becoming a stand-alone business called RCKTSHP.
