Recreation Specialist
Current• Lead school aged youth work programs based on team and department priorities for serving the needs of a demographically diverse community• Implement program planning strategies to include setting program goals and objectives, maintaining an overall annual program budget of $100,000, assessing and evaluating programs, and making appropriate data driven decisions• Create connections with individuals and communities, and ensure the development and delivery of culturally responsive, and inclusive activities/programs• Maintain accurate and up to date records of participation, budget, and other relevant program data• Supervise a staff of approximately sixty (60) seasonal staff while implementing positive youth development programming standards • Responsibilities include the hiring and training of seasonal staff, maintaining accurate records and approving payroll • Conduct personal performance evaluations and program participant surveys throughout after-school and summer programming• Oversees a $20,000 annual operating budget for recreation supplies and equipment to support programming efforts• Utilize RECTRAC VSI software to maintain pertinent data, registration numbers, and revenues for presentation to county stakeholders• Promote and market recreation programs and services to increase participation and community awareness• Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for program improvements and modifications on an annual basis• Attend meetings and training sessions as required to stay current with recreation trends and best practices
