Enjoying a 'less constrained' life. In addition to my Vastigo work, I've been working (again) with National Australia Bank, driving the adoption of the next level of collaboration - Unified Communications - extending the work I started when last at NAB. Prior to this I advised another Melbourne-based bank on a large security project (SOC, SEM and more) and also advised a major health insurer on it's service desk consolidation strategy. I enjoy working with uncertainty and ill-defined issues - finding that the solution is typically within the problem - if you're able to see it. Seems I'm rather good in such 'fog'.Have also handled a number of short term consulting engagements with CSC (Strategy development and Service Product development) and with PNG Telikom (evaluating the options for Ethernet over Powerline).Developed and delivered a number of Sales Coaching workshops for senior staff in complex, high-value systems sales. I have also provided sales mentoring/coaching on specific complex opportunities.

Ceo

Vastigo Ltd

Global

I, along with fellow Directors Peter Moore, Geoff Chester and Olavs Ritenis, established Vastigo Ltd as the global sole licensor of Acoustic3D technology. Singapore based and wholly independent of A3DHL and its product arm, NewAudio Ltd, Vastigo was thus better able to focus on the major consumer electronics manufacturers that would benefit from licensing disruptive and patented 'Diffusion at Source' A3D technologies, particularly since the science went public through the recent AES conference at Burlingame. It turns out that A3D technology achieves an output identical to that produced by the theoretical 'ideal point source' - Wow!I've decided to move on. The science is now known and someone with different skills may be more appropriate to take it forward - I need to replenish my coffers. If you've ever run a start-up you'll know what I mean.

Jul 2015 - Feb 2018

Ceo

Acoustic 3D Holdings Ltd

Australia

My primary task was to mould the organisation into the right shape to enable it to: transition from R&D to manufacturer. To get evaluation product - the New Audio 'Emergence' range of loudspeakers - to market, and to shape and leverage the considerable ground-breaking IP through the establishment of licensing agreements with manufacturers of audio products.Having revisited 'established' physics with newer mathematics , and applying a deep understanding of Psychoacoustics, A3D developed new insights into how sound should be generated to overcome the constraints imposed by the listening room. In so doing, we have not only greatly improved clarity and created a 3-dimensional sound stage, we have increased the apparent efficiency of the loudspeaker too.

May 2014 - Jul 2015

Senior Enterprise Architect

After developing the ‘Whole of Victorian Government vision for IT’ and corresponding business case, I was tasked with creating the Enterprise Architecture and high-level implementation plan for the consolidation of IT services across 15 Departments and Agencies. Migrating them to a single secure network, with centralised application hosting and storage. Virtualising desktop, hosting and storage to achieve compliance with Federal Government’s Protective Security Management standard, all delivered as a suite of services from a single source, CenITex, at ITIL CMMI of three. Despite the apparent focus on technology, the majority of my work was in: ‘strategy’ – demonstrating the value of linking all of the pieces and aligning them with government and departmental goals; ‘persuasion’ – selling the vision of the outcome at all levels; ‘diplomacy’ – resolving power-base disputes and techno-arguments; ‘contextualising’ – maintaining the balance between the objectives of business, technology and people and; ‘holisticism’ – ensuring that the value of the whole is maintained despite reductionist focus on the execution details.

Advisor To Gm Tech Ops

Nab

Responsible for progressing a number of complex, often interdependent projects including the development of scope requirements for the Desktop and Network outsourcing contracts (both of the order of $100M pa). Identified a $60M impending effort duplication and brought this to the CIO’s attention. The outsource scope was subsequently re-drafted around business outcomes rather than technology delivery. Resolved complex technological and commercial constraints that were preventing the deployment of Work Force Management technologies in NAB/MLC Contact Centres. Delivered Mobile Mortgage Manager ‘proof of concept’ to 50 users, meeting the tight timetable the CIO had committed to the media. Mobile Mortgage Manager was subsequently deployed to around 1000 users. Developed business cases for, and leadership of the teams to deliver: Bank-wide IP based Video Conferencing, Core Network upgrade to MPLS, Bank -wide IPTel (Central Call Manager and SIP-channel carrier connectivity).
