About Malcolm Robinson

Mal is the current Event Director for the National Armed Forces & Emergency Services Events Team. He is also Associate Editor and Special Projects for The Veteran UK magazine. Mal was also the Partnership Manager for JobOppO engaging with potential recruiters for the #veteran community network. He was previously the Editor and the Publications Manager for Pathfinder International - a national resettlement magazine. He was in charge of content curation, the publication, social media, digital management and overseeing and launching the Armed Forces Resettlement Expos and media partnerships for them. Mal was formerly the Commercial Manager for Unispace - The University of Sunderland's Business & Innovation Department's business arm, predominantly creating, organising and leading conferences and events, alongside exploring new revenue streams. Prior to this, Robinson was Security & Communications Director for IPA (CAIPA) on behalf of DFID, forming and producing comms strategies for the UK government's Ebola crisis relief effort in Sierra Leone, for which he was awarded the Ebola medal. Previous to this Robinson was Sports Editor at ncj Media, where he was responsible for the commissioning, editing and writing of sports content for 2 daily newspapers and 1 Sunday newspaper, namely The Journal, The Chronicle and Sunday Sun. Additional to this Robinson ensured the sports coverage was in line with the digital first ethos of Trinity Mirror, also overseeing the running of the social media accounts for Newcastle United and Sunderland, not to mention sport in general. Prior to this, Robinson was MD and Editor in Chief for Media73 Ltd, accountable for 4 magazine titles and the launch of each one digitally, including marketing and comms campaigns. Robinson has also been involved in 5 book projects to date with an array of roles in each one, ranging from author to publisher to project editor. Robinson has spent 8 months working and living in Kabul, Afghanistan for DFS Middle East in 2011/12 as a Logistical Communications Consultant , something he was familiar with having served just under 9 years in the Royal Air Force in Logistics, Media Operations and Business Management. He has served on tour in Iraq, Afghanistan (twice) and Kosovo, whilst traveling the world working in Jordan, Canada, Italy and Macedonia to name a few locations.
