Following Cisco's acquisition of Tandberg I initially worked as the manager of the development team responsible for the Telepresence Server before becoming the principal engineer responsible for conferencing solutions. In this role I was responsible for delivery of the Pervasing Conferencing, Optimised Conferencing and the Telepresence part of WebEx enabled TelePresence.My final role was reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management for Collaboration Infrastructure. In this role my main responsibilities were the prioritisation of functionality and coordination of delivery across the multiple products within the group and working with the other collaboration groups to deliver this functionality.

Following Codian’s acquisition by Tandberg I initially continued as project manager for the MCU and also became responsible for the next generation of MCU software known as the Telepresence Server. Once again I was responsible for several software releases and another hardware platform. I also became line manager for two teams of developers. During this time I was involved ensuring effective co-ordination between my team in the UK and another team in Oslo.

I joined Codian as the technical project manager for their MCU system. During this time I was responsible for the release of several software versions and a new hardware platform. I had overall responsibility for making sure these releases met the functional and quality required and also balancing these against the time and budget constraints. My role involved:• Determining feature specifications in conjunction with product managers;• Assisting engineers with any implementation issues;• Problem solving any other issues that arose;• Producing both project plans and monthly reports for senior management.

During my time with Tessella I worked as a consultant for a number of clients working throughout the project lifecycle. This included analysis, requirement gathering, design, development, testing and maintenance and enhancement work.In addition to my technical work I was also line manager for more junior staff including staff employed directly for clients and managed projects both for Tessella and for clients using ISO 9001 compliant procedures. Some of the projects I worked on included:• Beamline systems development at Diamond Light SourceWhile at Diamond I developed the control software for four of the first seven beamlines. This involved working with equipment manufacturers to interface their equipment into the control system as well as development of new components of the control system.• Real-time development in C++ at Joint European Torus (JET)I designed and developed applications to acquire experimental physics data and algorithms to carry out fitting and analysis of this data in real-time.I designed and developed a video capture application to allow monitoring and recording of remote experiments. • Design, development and maintenance of database systems for UKAEA and JET I designed, developed and enhanced a database system storing experimental nuclear fusion data from around the world. This used a PostgreSQL as the back end and PHP as the web interface. This interface allows users to search the existing data and also to add and check new data.I also designed a database system to store data on material properties. This included design of database, business and presentation layers. I also managed all of the other staff working on the project.
