Perth And Two Years In London
For nearly twenty years I worked with Homeless and at risk people. Amazing, confronting, challenging and at times devastating work. The people on the fringes taught me many things ie how to juggle, shake hands firmly, laugh in the face of utter despair, fight the good fight, not to take myself so seriously, how to let go, hope amidst hopelessness and so much more. Eventually I couldn't do the work anymore. It wore me down and I realised it was far better for everyone to move on. It took me at least two years to 'recover' and to see that the world was no where as screwed up, violent and disturbed as I had unfortunately come to see it. Phew...glad I got out when I did.
