After the acquisition, I shifted to the DevOps team as a Software Engineer AMTS. My time in this role greatly accelerated my understanding of numerous engineering technologies. This included docker, kubernetes, aws, gcp, terraform, spinnaker, and github actions. This job improved my ability to work in high pressure situations, as we worked to move many of the Spiff services onto the Salesforce platform.

I transitioned from the support team to the engineering team when I became an RCA engineer. This role was a step up in technical proficiency, and allowed me to continue my professional growth. I was able to meet or exceed every goal set out for me during the first three months, and by the end of the first month I was already performing my job with little supervision. The main responsibility of this job was to triage any bug reports. This would include verifying reproducibility, coordinating with the various engineering pods, identifying a root cause, and sometimes creating a solution to merge into production. I was able to refine my understanding of Ruby, Elixir, and Java React in this role, in addition to reinforcing more fundamental concepts in OO programming and clean coding.The end of this role was tied to the Salesforce Acquisition.

My responsibilities at Spiff grew as in parallel with my job proficiency. My tasks included:- Providing technical support to clients of all sizes with logic for calculating commissions, and helping them understand the issue so that they could feel more equipped in the future to deal with some of the issues.- Leading evaluation of several CRM platforms to find the best software to empower the support team.
-Working inside Salesforce CRM to build out reporting for the support team, as well as make changes that improved the workflow of our technical support team.- Supporting other members internally by educating them and helping with tricky issues, as well as conducting seminars where I would review some of the more common issues or topics that most people encountered.-Documenting all of our processes and knowledge as well as restructuring those same processes as the team grew.-Taking on stretch projects including implementing solutions for new clients, automating several processes with Workato, and integrating our BigQuery DB to Churn zero.

My job at Specialized Engineering was multifaceted and very self-directed. The primary tasks were as follows:- Cooperate with other compounders and professionals to develop new rubber compound recipes and other products.- Consult various sources of literature to stay up to date on new materials technology and to gain a more fundamental understanding of the theory behind rubber compounding.- Travel to our various factories and work partners to supervise performance and maintain our relationships.- Travel to international biking events to meet with professional athletes, retailers, and bicycle magazine editors (whose feedback would guide future product design).- Run several different machines in order to characterize our tires as well as competitor tires.- Communicate with marketing teams to understand what market trends there are, to gather feedback on our products, and to elucidate technical concepts behind tire design for marketing purposes.

This was an excellent job to do while attending school. Although not very scientific, this job reinforced my ability to work under stress. It also improved my ability communicate clearly and manage several tasks and people simultaneously.

This job has had a wide variety of tasks. I started by testing the effectiveness of a powder in adsorbing mercury from a simulated coal-burning stream in a lab/experiment setting. After a month of testing that, I moved to another location where I assisted in repairing an industrial coal-burning furnace for simulating optimal coal-firing environments.

I assisted in construction at the first commercial-scale facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. PK Clean has developed a patented depolymerization process for converting plastic waste into oil. I learned how to construct various metal structures (through cutting, grinding, and welding mainly). I also operated heavy machinery such as forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and cranes. I also gained a lot of knowledge about designing a plant. By the end of the internship I gained valuable industrial knowledge, as well as making great connections.
