 Member of the senior leadership team responsible for Fire & Rescue IT Infrastructure with a $14m budget including 50 staff, 5 major sites and data centres, 360 Zone Office and Fire Station sites, storage, servers, networks, voice, video, client systems, service management and the service desk. Responsible for the design and management of disaster recovery centres and business continuity. Accountable for the 24x7 availability of ERP and 000 emergency dispatch systems for 90,000 Fire &Rescue, Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Services employees. Designed and responsible for interagency shared services including infrastructure as a service, SAP, TRIM, and ESRI GIS for the Ministry of Police and Emergency Services and other high profile agencies. Successful in acquiring and maintaining the AS27001 Information Security certification for Fire. Introduced and led the cultural acceptance of the ITIL service management framework. Currently migrating 8,000 email accounts to Microsoft's Office 365 Exchange cloud in the USA. Upgrading current EMC storage arrays to virtual storage centres providing active/active DR. Automating the provisioning and de‐provisioning of staff user accounts and rights (systems and physical locations) using the HR system as the authority. Key member of Fire Fighter innovation group influencing design for satellite response, AVL and related technology in fire engines, 000 dispatch systems, geographic information systems and broadcast video technology. Design of infrastructure for mobility and bring your own device (BYOD). Provide chief technical officer role teaming with the chief information officer to manage Fire & RescueInformation Technology.

 Restructured the IT Infrastructure and IT Systems groups and recruited to fill positions. Design and rollout of Zone Office LAN/WAN across 50 large sites throughout NSW. Successful in the design for single sign‐on to all systems, networks and physical access. Streamlined the hosting environment by negotiating licensing and contracts to migrate from Novell NetWare to Microsoft and Linux. Designed and coded Fire & Rescue’s CMS Intranet and Remote Portal. Successfully connected all 330 NSW Fire Stations to the network.

 Project management and technical design and migration of ALL‐IN‐1 and cc:Mail to GroupWise. Design and roll out of directory services and migration of Unix and OS2 systems to Windows. Replaced legacy DECNIS routers, Synoptics hubs and coax with new cat 6 cable plants and centrally managed Cisco VLAN infrastructure.

 Designed technical solutions and standards for the national replacement of the Department of SocialSecurity networks and systems. Selected to project manage replacement technology for critical DSS teleservice centres from Tasmania to North Queensland as well as many large capital city offices.

 Introduced early X25 wide area networking and the first local area network servers. General Manager's annual 'Striving for Excellence Award' winner for my contribution to business improvement.

 Introduced and managed the first business grade electronic mail system (Digital ALL‐IN‐1) and later worked on the technical design team for a commercial email service for the public known as 'E‐post'.

 Introduced and managed the first centralized IT help desk in Australia Post including the development ofthe customer service database.

 Pioneered the adoption of computer based learning removing the need for hundreds of trainee postal clerks to travel from country towns to study in Sydney for six months. As a result Australia Post was able to close its Sydney Training Centre at Strathfield saving the organisation more than $2m per year.

 Conducted interpersonal, financial and leadership training for managers. Developed (coded) popular and highly successful mail sorting computer games. December 1976 ‐
