Clinical Laboratory Technologist I
Lead Clinical Laboratory Technician
During my second year at Worksite Labs I was able to take on a leadership role, which was an incredible and exciting opportunity. Being at the CAP and CLIA accredited Placentia lab since its inception allowed me to gain the knowledge and confidence to tackle new responsibilities head on and be more involved with every step of the laboratory process. This includes having meetings with a board of medical directors, pathologists, supply managers and reporting to the Vice President of Laboratory Operations. Currently, I am in charge of supply management using Quartzy, ensuring that we have a sufficient amount of inventory to keep up with high demand. I also keep a record of competency for all of the laboratory staff and have trained current and newly hired technicians to ensure the use of proper techniques when processing specimens. This past December in 2022 I was able to aid in the process of preparing our lab for our first CAP inspection. I prepared for the inspection by gathering and organizing all necessary temperature logs, certifications, and credentials to present to our medical director and VP. Additionally, I have calibrated all pipettes at our lab using Artel’s PCS instrument and software. Finally, within the past few months I have been working directly with our IT department overseas to test and launch a laboratory portal that will help automate our reporting and results process which will further increase our turnaround times.
Clinical Laboratory Technician
I have always been interested in lab work since a young age. This interest started growing during my first year at UCR where I worked on extracting and sequencing the DNA of various citrus seeds. One year after graduation, my pursuit for careers in neuroscience came to a halt due to the pandemic, so I adapted and was fortunate enough to be hired at Worksite Labs as a laboratory technician. Throughout my first year with the company, we underwent numerous changes which allowed exposure to multiple methods and techniques of RT-PCR by using the Atila Biosystems, Quidel Lyra, and Lumira Dx assays. I personally loved being able to adapt to changes as they came and it made me a very flexible and open minded worker. I also gained experience using the Bio-Rad CFX96 and Bio-Rad Opus 384 RT-PCR instruments. My team and I proposed and implemented changes to maximize efficiency in our workflow. These changes allowed us to process over 4,000 specimens daily during our peak and provide results in under 12 hours for clinics, hospitals, and traveling customers.
Lead Tms Technician
My time at Achieve TMS had some of the most rewarding experiences for me after being freshly out of college. I was certified through Brainsway, allowing me to administer deep TMS neurotherapy to a high volume of patients per day. I was fortunate enough to work closely with MD’s and DNP’s to map out patient’s brains for treatment and was able to pay that knowledge forward by training multiple technicians at various sites throughout California. Additionally, I was given the task of auditing hundreds of daily treatment notes for seven centers in our region independently where I checked for errors whileensuring that the information was consistent and accurate.
Intern
From inputting patient’s history to working with them individually, my time at Bernstein & Benham Optometry has helped me establish rapport and communicate with patients professionally in a clinical setting. Seeing multiple patients within an hour, I have learned to keep an organized workspace and function both quickly and efficiently. Dr. Benham has encouraged me to ask questions and has given me the freedom to observe various eye diseases using a slit lamp, take retinal images, and read the lens prescriptions. My time at the optometry clinic has not only been a great deal of specialized learning, but also a great social experience.
