Our team used an Agile development process featuring daily online reports (in lieu of stand-up), 2-week sprints, and using Jira and Confluence.My role at StackedVB included the development of * implementation of micro-services to support various applications,* design and development of RESTful APIs for these micro-services,* modification of Spring to support JWT (Jason Web Tokens) for authentication,* design and implementation of AWS CodePipeline worker application to support continuous build and deployment.Technologies: Java, Spring Boot, JPA, PostgreSQL, Git, Gradle, Travis, Docker, AWS (EC2, S3, CodePipeline, CodeDeploy), JIRA, Confluence

Paloma Mobile developed a lightweight social application for exchanging photos and messages in developing nations where cheap Android devices are ubiquitous and phone networks are highly variable. Integration with network providers in these target markets was crucial and problematic, and the focus of my initial role with the company.In May of 2015 the company shifted focus from a single application to the more general problem of developing, deploying, and supporting mobile applications, particularly where network connectivity could not be guaranteed.The architecture of this new mobile platform is based on micro-services, with OAuth2 security, and RESTful APIs for all services. In January 2016 the platform was prepared for limited release to selected customer, and ongoing development delegated to those customers, as in-house development was wound down. As of January 2016 the services currently implemented include User, Message, Media, Notification, Relationship, Verification, Data Tracking, and SMS.Paloma mobile used an Agile approach to development with 2 week sprints, daily stand-ups, integration tests for all code, and peer review of all code.My role at Paloma involved:* development of web services,* design and implementation of RESTful APIs,* technical liaison and system integration with network providers,* production support.The technologies used included: Java, Spring Boot, JPA, MySQL, Git, Maven, Jenkins, AWS, Antlr4, QueryDSL, Jira, Confluence.

Maintenance and development of Netpage's publishing system.Specific changes developed since March include:* integration of new renderer to generate images from PDF documents,* revision of servers to simplify restart processes and reduce operational outages,* changes to internal template system to simplify and enhance the creation of end-user web pages,* job management console to provide visibility into complex and long-running publishing jobs.The development is done in Java with a Spring/Hibernate framework, with JSP and Javascript used for presentation.

Our small team developed RESTful web services for a large R&D company. These web services incorporated specialised services for operations staff together with a highly scalable end-user interface.Nicheware used Agile methodologies including daily updates, 2-3 week iterations, test driven development, continuous integration, and peer review of all changes.In addition to the development of web services, I was involved in:* integration and maintenance of the source code control and code review systems,* integration of specialised C++ library using JNI,* generation and transformation of PDF documents using iText,* performance testing of applications deployed to AWS,* log processing using Flume, Hadoop, and MapReduce.
