Maman received his bachelor degree in petroleum engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology in 1978. He began his career with Mobil Oil Indonesia Inc. (MOI) as a Drilling Engineer. Since that time, he has held various engineering assignments for 5 years in MOI's Production Engineering Department including Reservoir and Exploitation, Field Production and developmental assignment in Midland, Texas, USA. In 1984, he moved to Field Operations in Aceh and spent 15 years to hold supervisory and management positions starting as Production Supervisor up to the Field Operations Manager. Within this period he spent 18 months in Mobil E&P headquarters, Fairfax, USA to serve as a business and planning advisor. In February 2000, he was transferred to Jakarta to serve as the Vice President of Planning and Commercial reporting to the President and General Manager.His last position before retiring from ExxonMobil in early 2011 was the Vice President of Public and Goverment Affairs which was held since August 2004. In this capacity, he acted as the primary representative for external interfaces, while holding responsibility for government, community and media relations programs. He provided relevant strategic support to the company president and general manager in safeguarding the company’s reputation and stated interests in Indonesia. He was responsible for developing, executing and maintaining company media relations, communications strategies and government and community relations initiatives. In doing so, he communicated closely with the EM Corporate Global Public and Government Affairs to ensure full integration of and alignment with stated ExxonMobil objectives and overall company’s strategic goals.
