The role at IRB was a progression from the 'Consultancy Assignment' that I was managing thru 2011 to a full time role.The challenging role covered 'Technology Adoption' in the group companies spread across Construction, Tolling, highway management, etc.Key areas included preparing & deploying an Enterprise wide 'Technology Road map'. While the plan would be enterprise wide, the implementations would be in phases.The different activities that contributed towards meeting the objectives included :1. Setting up a team of skilled & dedicated IT professionals to spearhead the initiatives and also to own & manage the different aspects of the IT infrastructure within the organisation2. Evaluation of existing & potential vendors & Service partners (based on performance & Commercial parameters) 3. Review of existing Software systems towards identifying the gaps and/or areas of improvement to increase the operational efficiencies4. Design & deploy basic IT infrastructure like MPLS connectivity across the 75 odd pan India company locations5. Evaluate, finalise & implement the 'Data Centre' facility for the organisation6. Formulate & Implement various policies related to the IT Infrastructure management.7. Accountable for IT Audits 8. To understand the business requirements for a robust system to manage activities of 'Toll Collection'.Evaluate products of different system integrators in terms of hardware, reporting capabilities, scalability, etc. Commercial negotiations & planning & implementation form a key part of current role9. Strategic projects :a. Evaluate, Design, Implement & manage a pan India network of CCTV surveillance infrastructureb. Setting up a Centralised Command Centre with Video wall & video streaming capability for remote management of Toll operations c. Rollout of IT Infrastructure for SAP Hana deploymentd.
