Essence Group is an industry recognized and accredited food contract manufacturer that formulates ideas, develops concepts and delivers finished FMCG to our customers. Services include tableting, blending, and packing to our clients in the health and nutraceutical industries. They also recently acquired their own brands that we had to incorporate into an ever growing company. In this role I was responsible to ensure that all Sales and Forecasts were met. This all functioned in accordance with HACCP and other quality standards. I also had to oversee Warehouse, Safety and Maintenance. I was actively involved in new projects and installation of new processes and procedures to increase automation in production.

In this role I created all the production plans for blending and manufacturing of FG. I worked closely with the Production Supervisor to coordinate movement of raws and semi finished goods in the production chain. I also assisted with labour planning as we had very robust production cycles and had to maintain a flexible workforce. Due to a very tight JIT system and short lead times on delivery dates I had to liaise and advise the Procurement Team on a daily basis. Production scheduling was based on a combination of factors like allergens, availability of packaging and raws, capacity and labour availability. With multiple production lines that had to be adapted to accommodate different sku’s like jar, pouch or sachet filling, I created and maintained a functioning scheduling system to assist in creating Production plans

Element Six is the world's leading supplier of synthetic diamonds for cutting, grinding, drilling, mining, polishing, optics, semi-conductors and sensors.Inventory Management This role involved strategic materials planning, deciding what to order and ensuring that orders are processed by the Procurement team. I had to ensure that we have enough stock, including safety stock, but keep stock level at a predetermined minimum level. This obviously required regular interface with procurement, supply chain, product development, operations and suppliers Warehouse ManagementIn 2016, I implemented WC warehousing strategies by actively managing raw materials, finished products and reduction of redundant stock. Stacking and packing standards were also updated and improved. We had weekly and monthly cycle counts to keep stock levels accurate. I had to monitor inventory transfers and stock receipts on a daily basis. All raw materials had to be checked and MSDS sheets generated and kept with the materials. Stocks were rotated on a FIFO basis and items with a shelf life monitored to ensure it was used before expiry dates.Distribution and LogisticsIn this department, I worked hand in hand with our Quality departments to ensure quality standards on packing and delivery performance was met. By liaising with suppliers and customers on a weekly basis we aimed to optimize freight and logistic cost. I also worked closely with Crane and DHL to discuss open Customer and Supplier orders and schedule deliveries of it. This was based on due dates and sea or air freight to minimize cost.All the products shipped to customers were invoiced by my department. At month end we had to assist the creditors department with any accounts payable/receivable queries. I personally also solved any customer or supplier queries relating to open orders and invoicing. JDE/ERP System (SAP)This function involved the maintenance of master data.

Element Six is the world's leading supplier of synthetic diamonds for cutting, grinding, drilling, mining, polishing, optics, semi-conductors and sensors.In this role, my main responsibilities were the preparation and continually updating of the Materials utilization schedules to manage stock levels by order scheduling, dependent on the actual vs. forecasted production plans. I had to present the above data in the monthly planning review with production to ensure the theoretical plan matches. I had to communicate requirements and required delivery to inter group suppliers and the Procurement Department.As new products where introduced, I had to create new items for raw materials, assembly parts and final product.Our plant in Ireland sourced 80% of their Wear parts from South Africa. My responsibility was to plan with the Oil & Gas processing wear parts department to meet these orders. I also had to externally source diamond grinding wheels or raw material for locally produced wheels.One of my main responsibilities was the preparation of the monthly South African inventory report, where materials are broken down into BU, production consumption category and sub category, so that usage, stock holding and movement can be identified and analyzed. I also had to prepare any reports required by other parties in the group, as I was always keen on working with new software we acquired.I was also involved in the continuous training of new and current employees to use and understand our MRP system. I built up a team to provide support to our local user and to assist in any problem solving relating to the system.
