Profile bio

About Mandy Ford

I am a highly motivated individual with significant experience of working in operational, clinical, and corporate governance roles across commissioning, acute and mental health care, and being flexible and pragmatic in my approach enables me to manage and resolve situations as they arise, whether that is on an individual basis, or as part of a wider team. Working in the roles I have had to date, has enabled me to assist in the commissioning processes, identifying where services are poor, and assisting in the review of service provision, to enable changes to be made by either helping raise standards, or to look for services elsewhere. All of my roles have required a high standard of communication skills and computer skills, inorder to present information in varying formats for different staff and patient groups, and different working groups, and Board level Committees, in many forums both internal and external to the Trusts I have worked in.Providing expert advice and guidance at all levels of the organisation has been key to my last two job roles, one in relation to compliance with CQC regulations and inspection regimes, and my current role in term of risk management, Health and Safety, and matters relating to the Trust’s everyday business, ranging from informed consent to ensuring off site premises are fit for purpose to relocate services to as part of joint working with the wider Dorset health and care providers. This has meant working and communicating effectively with services, teams, individuals and external agencies, and the public, to ensure that our legal obligations are met. Managing and maintain oversight of the Corporate Risk register, and local risk registers, also provides the opportunity to ensure that the operational risks are also reflective of, and inform, the strategic risks as detailed on the Board Assurance Framework.Part of my current role is working with our local ICB, and health (including primary care) and social care organisations to agree Dorset wide processes and challenge where there are short falls. We are currently working on how we effectively roll out the Patient Safety Incident Frameworkand Learning from Patient Safety Events to ensure we are meeting the reporting requirements, both for our own organisation, as a system and how we report to the local ICB. I am currently studying for the Advanced Certificate in Health Service Governance, run by the Chartered Governance Institute, and I am due to complete the exam in November 2023.
