For example, she was responsible for designing and implementing a linker for the Sharc DSP and a multi-processor performance analyzer (TATL). TATL was indispensable for evaluating performance characteristics in multi-threaded, multi-processor code, in particular, for finding bottlenecks and synchronization problems. Manisha ported it to many different hardware platforms. It was and is used extensively by customers as well as Mercury developers. She took over and enhanced the code base that managed Mercury’s data movement API for the Cell processor (MCF) when the original developer moved on to other tasks. She evaluated in-house and commercial tools for generating multi-threaded parallel code, and is implementing Mercury’s data movement API over Infiniband. For the most part, the products I worked on made use of or depended on her products. However, there were several projects we worked on together. When I was trying to work out an issue in my own software, I turned to her to help me explore possible alternatives to find the best approach. Her clear thinking was always invaluable.
