Each organization has granted permission for their document to be used as a demonstration for my work.MISSION STATEMENT- To live life with enthusiasm, love and respect where, I am able to help others within my reach and make this word slightly a better place.Being an enthusiast and joyful person, I always live by the motto to help others who are in need and gain love and respect of others as reflected in the mission statement. This has assisted me in developing as a young professional in the field of Gerontology. I have a gregarious and empathetic personality which helps me to connect with the people easily and build my connections in the field. My hobbies include listening to music and reading poetry for relaxation, watching thrilling and exciting movies for entertainment and fun along with gardening and farming. Working with seniors has always been of a great interest to me. After completing my high school, I started working as an English Language Instructor to give myself a little break and figure out the dynamics of my career. After consulting it with my former teachers and looking after my own interests, I figured out that working in Gerontology field is something that I want to pursue as a career. The inspiration also developed from personal relations that I had with my grandmother who passed away due to heart condition and diabetes. I was young and felt so overwhelmed as I was not able to help her during that time. This is something that evoked my interest in work with older adults as I want to help geriatric population who feel it is difficult to live a better life at this stage of life. Working with Alzheimer Society Peel as a practicum student has helped me to learn the dynamics of a Canadian Workplace. My duties at the organization constituted tasks based on recreation and administration. I learned how to facilitate a group program on regular basis and engage members in the activity. Similarly, I have also learned to assist members who are feeling socially isolated by doing one-on-one programs with them. Overall, I feel grateful that I had an opportunity to do my first practicum with Alzheimer Society Peel which foster my learning and abilities as a young professional in the field.
