He was also a very consistent and transparent communicator, holding regular team meetings, town halls and skip-level management meetings. In addition to his leadership, he is also an excellent operator. He worked closely with his operations team to raise the bar on actionable reporting on his business and was able to drive very specific strategies around cost management and provider network composition through that work. He held regular joint meetings with key internal shared service partners where they focused on using the analytics to define specific trend mitigation strategies. He did additional deep dives into the composition of his block of business to understand the industries that composed his business, the duration of his risk-based business and drove specific strategies around right pricing his business while simultaneously partnering with his underwriting team to drive a market acquisition strategy that improved the overall risk. His work was held up across the country as a benchmark and he helped coach other market leaders on how to replicate his management process. In addition to being a very effective P&L manager, Mack is also a very strong sales leader. He has exceptional relationships with the consultant and broker community that allowed him to drive our business forward during a very challenging period. He enjoyed a great relationship with his underwriting partners and our organization made several key investment decisions in his market based on strategies that he created. He approached the sales leadership role with a good sense of balance between growth and margin. Being a strong steward of our brand and having a deep belief in giving back, he also committed a significant amount of time and support to community non-profits in Florida. I can't think of a better market leader to represent what we stand for.
