Scientific advancements is always fueled by creative inventions and innovations. Flight of planes created by the magic of propulsion and combustion always enthralled me and as a kid I dreamt of being a pilot. When I grew up (more like woke up to the real world) I filled my tank of interests with engines and machines. This propelled me to study Mechanical Engineering. During my undergrad, I excelled in courses like thermodynamics and fluid mechanics and software like Solid-works, CFD and ANSYS. I also honed my leadership skills by becoming the undergraduate president of of the Mechanical Engineering Department. After gaining a broader insight into mechanical engineering momentum I decided to specialize in thermal and fluid sciences by pursuing a Masters of Science in ME at the University of Illinois, Chicago. At UIC I studied courses on jet propulsion, combustion and chemical kinetics ,compressible and turbulent flows, thermodynamics and energy auditing. During my time I was fascinated by the research Professor Brezinsky was doing in jet fuel combustion and decided to land at his High Pressure Shock Tube Lab. This laid down my landing wheels for pursuing my ongoing PhD in ME (Propulsion and Combustion) under him. I also work in the HPST Lab as a Research Assistant where we use the high pressure shock tube to study the speciation of complex jet fuels provided by ARL (DoD) at jet engine relevant conditions. This requires running experiments on the shock tubes, analyzing combustion products and properties in a gas chromatogram along with extensive knowledge in python and Cantera to model the experimental results. Being a part of a big research team and working with ARL along with partnering with other universities, I got an insight of how a multi-body organization and the research industry work. This gave me a lot of opportunities to step up as a team leader to lead projects. Apart from my degree I love camping, swimming and soccer.
