I was given the opportunity to participate in a research project on the Adverse Effects of Pregnancy and Lactation on Oral Health (Cavities). The relationship between pregnancy, lactation, and cavities have not been well-documented, and my goal is to publish a journal with data about the topic. I've been fortunate enough to receive funding for my research project from NC State University. ~key responsibilities:- Analyzing scholarly journals related to the research topic- Contacting/recruiting dentists to participate in the research- Writing a scientific paper on the research topic

My colleagues and I filmed a video on the topic of Eugenics for our Genetic's Honors project.

I had the opportunity to be a part of UNC's Bridging the Gap Program for 2 semesters. Li Hong, my mentor at the dental school, guided me through simple oral procedures such as tooth fillings and taking impressions. Li also gave me a tour of the dental school and introduced me to several dental professors. I was given a scope of what it's like to be a dental student. The program has taught me the importance of a strong work ethic and determination.
