  As the Tool Designer my responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Liaise with Engineering on new product designs and the tooling required for a production build. This usually defines the build process required for that product taking into consideration all aspects including safety, ergonomics, accuracy, repeatability and cycle time.Open Virtual Bus models within NX and visually inspect the models, based on experience (tribal knowledge), to identify new assemblies and installations.Design tooling around Engineering cad models and cross referencing released drawings for allowance and fit tolerances. Build process is also determined at this stage.The design process consists of generating the CAD model. Creating the piece part and assembly drawings of the tool. Exporting attributes from the cad file into a text file to create the BoM, Cut List and Raw Mat Req sheets within an Excel workbook, and assembling the package into a binder. Large top level drawings are then plotted for clarity. Create custom configuration drawings depicting the tool in use with the parts being made and/or located.Technical support using NX Engineering models for problem solving of fit and quality issues.Support production on the use of new tools and build processes for new assemblies and installations.Support and train people on the use of 3D metrology equipment in the form of the FARO Vantage Laser Tracker and the FARO Quantum Arm using the latest CAM2 software to build, inspect and maintain fixtures.Work with QA to trouble shoot and root cause issues in the build process and implement or modify tooling as required correcting those issues.As a certified Journeyman Tool & Die Maker I am well versed in the use of various metal fabrication equipment including HAAS CNC milling machines, conventional milling machines, lathes, saws, drills, etc. while utilising precision measuring instruments to ensure a high degree of accuracy.
