As Global FIU Manager my role was to implement and optimise methodology for conducting FIU investigations and transaction monitoring analysis within compliance, in line with applicable laws. The Global team was based in the UK, Mexico and New Zealand and have been brought together to globally standardise the investigative second line role. The role entailed the building out of this function from inception, evaluating, scoping and adding functionality to the FIU in a staged fashion; building the team as demand grows. Primary current functions include; global liaison with law enforcement and the servicing and responding to legal orders and subpoenas, the writing and filing of SAR reports in accordance with local requirements and regulation, in-depth investigation of fraud escalations including the appropriate reporting to appropriate organisation based upon global requirements.

I supervise the operational and strategic running of the financial investigation and intelligence team within the Anti Bribery and Corruption function. My team of trained financial investigators are solely responsible for the internal compliance investigations into c40k existing staff and the financial vetting of all new applicants to the organisation, c10k p/a. I have overseen a 100% growth in staff, including the associated training and embedding. I have driven a total digital transformation of day-to-day working, managing the business and cultural change. New IT solutions were sourced, and fully integrated into working practices, ensuring all case management data is fully auditable and retrievable. I lead on liaison with the financial services sector building strong, lasting and productive relationships under a legal framework.

I project managed the ‘Digital Operations’ strand of a national IT implementation programme delivering infrastructure upgrades and the software advancements, to streamline processes and improve the user experience. I was targeted for the role to lead and upskill external contractors on local working practices while maintaining a practical and hands on approach. I ensured that all deliverables were completed on time and expected high standards met.

I managed a team researching and prosecuting CFT cases of national and international significance. I provided expert input on typologies to domestic and international collaborators including financial services sector and government departments. I completed a two-year secondment to MOD and the FCO, managing and providing practical support to the financial investigation/intelligence teams, horizon scanning and reverse engineering transactions.

I was practical in running a team investigating a caseload of allegations of economic crime; primarily theft, fraud, money laundering and corruption. Financial outputs were compiled and delivered both accurately and timely, in support of others; investigations were managed through systematic evidence gathering to delivery in court prosecutions.
