As a business knowledge specialist for this major decision support system development project affecting all heavy vehicle access requests across Queensland I am required to act as a consultant for the testing and change management teams, as liaison between the project team and business, develop internal training resources and will be delivering face to face training to 1700 Queensland businesses. I am a senior member of the change management team and have responsibility for all internal training and for the technical content of external training. The project has had a difficult past and I was chosen for my reputation as someone who delivers, exudes positivity, picks up excellent business knowledge, has outstanding professional relationship skills and work ethic to be a major cog in the new team to get the product to, and through, a successful rollout.

As a special project contractor for the Queensland Government this role required our team to work between haulage operators and the Heavy Vehicle Access Management System development team to co-ordinate excess mass & dimension permits for industry in a timely manner and to smooth the changeover caused by the National Heavy Vehicle Law Act 2012 and the incoming Heavy Vehicle Access Management System.We acted as liaisons between police, road engineers, local councils, rail and the haulage industry to keep the state moving while preserving safety and road quality across Queensland during a period of change and upheaval; maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships is a daily challenge. Clear communication of complex regulations and assertiveness as deadlines approach were absolutely essential to succeed in this program office.

This busy, challenging role within New Zealand’s fastest growing health board involved juggling myriad roles, duties and responsibilities. Day to day work included directing staff and patient flow, ensuring our service complies with Ministry of Health demands while always guarding the well being of patients, service users and staff as a priority. I have led or stood as a major stakeholder for many large projects including the opening of a new cardiology ward at North Shore Hospital, the opening of a second catheter laboratory for cardiac interventional medicine, the closure of the Coronary Care Unit at Waitakere Hospital, the adoption of the hyperbaric unit previously administered by the NZ Navy and the expansion of space and resources in the Cardiac Physiology department across the health board. During my time in this position our service gained a reputation as the most paper-free and system-driven among New Zealand’s major health boards. I inherited an in-house electronic referrals management system which I have helped to polish in to a complete paperless solution for safe patient flow from admission to our service to discharge with appropriate clinical results and follow-up. We were the first service in New Zealand to achieve this, it was my pleasure to demonstrate this to other services around the country and to advise how they may achieve similar results.Through my own efforts and co-operation with the efforts of others our outpatient capacity has easily doubled in the last three years even with growth in staff and resources being significantly smaller than this. Benefits for the community included drastically reduced waiting times for diagnostic procedures and a higher, more consistent level of care. My expertise with systems and processes was being used most recently by the board as the Greater Auckland Regional eReferrals system was rolled out across hospitals, general practitioners and primary health organisations.
