My primary experience is in Mobile Applications development, currently working as a Software Development Engineer II at Zonar Systems. I started my career working at tech startups in Riverside, California with self-taught knowledge but as the demands of the industry changed and my skills became insufficient, I decided to complete my education at the University of Washington, graduating in 2021.My early roles at Sportronix and Motorcycle Alert were focused on wearing many hats: I was responsible for UI/UX design, system design, backend and frontend development focusing on Android applications but keeping in mind the scalability to expand to iOS or web applications agnostic to framework. We used Agile sprint reviews to communicate effectively with the stakeholders, ensuring the vision of leadership is met by our work. I learned to effectively collect requirements and to adapt to the changing environment of 2010's Android development so we could complete development from start to 1.0 release in less than 6 months. I began my exposure to Kotlin at this time as a way to develop across multiple platforms but have since adapted it as an Android specific language.Completing my education at the University of Washington allowed me to supplement my skills with more complex data structures as well as advanced mathematics and algorithms. Exposure to computer hardware classwork enhanced my understanding of software practicum as well.At Zonar, I learned how to apply my practical development skills within a larger organization and how to work with a codebase that has gone through several refactors and structural changes. Abstracting practical change from high level business needs has been an important skill to develop in this role. at Zonar, I have worked towards a significant decrease in UDL errors by approx. 20% as well as reducing production crashes reported in Firebase by 40%.
