Head Of Strategic Change & Execution For Wealth Advisory

Moving to Jersey in 2008 to take up a role with Barclays Wealth helped me to move from the Investement Banking sell side of the Financial Services sector into the Private Banking, Funds Management, Trust Management and buy side of the business. I first moved to Jersey to head up the local Jersey operations for Barclays Wealth and simultaneously managed the Global Operations for the Wealth Advisory for UK and all offshore locations. I worked extensively with the infrastructure and architecture teams to deliver the Target Operating Model for the Wealth Advisory Business. In addition I was drafted into the Barclays Stockbrokers business to undertake the more strategic review of the operations and technology. This led to the scaling up of the Glasgow Operations Center, the downscaling of Barclays Capital in London and subsequent offshoring into India. During last 12 months with Barclays I managed the delivery of end to end operations & technology operating model for the Trust, Funds and EBT businesses which was a £5m project involving many different internal and external technology specialists. Upon delivery I needed something new and exciting to do and my family was not ready to move back to the UK or indeed back into India with Barclays.

Nov 2008 - Apr 2012

Managing Director

London / India

I joined DB as head of Cross Business Services with a clear target to offshore / outsource core operations processing to Vendors and new build company in low cost locations. Post a beauty parade of vendors and a choice being made we set up the first outsourcing BPO model for DB and executed movement of 80% (350 FTE) into the new Vendor. This was received positively for DB and then opened the floodgates for DB Operations, Technology, Finance and some client service teams to migrate into the Vendor. We then worked on setting up the DBOI company (arms length fully owned subsidary) to allow continued movement into 3 locations in India, 1 in the UK and 1 in USA. This allowed a significant number of FTE to be migrated from high cost and difficult to recruit locations into much lower cost areas. The total size of DBOI grew to over 3 thousand FTE in 3 years. During my last year at DB I worked on designing, developing and delivering the 5 C's data cube across all businesses on a Global basis. This provided intranet review/reporting real time of Control, Cost, Capacity, Client Service and Cycle time Key Performance Indicators allowing managers of any area at any level to review what was happening in Operations, Technology and Finance at any given time.

Oct 2001 - Nov 2008

Managing Director - Head Of Operations Western Hemisphere / Global Head Investment Banking Ops

London / India / South America / Singapore

In my role as Director Head of Operations at Standard Chartered Bank my remit covered managing the Western hemisphere operations primarily in USA/UK/Europe across all business segments and products (Global Markets, Treasury, Retail, Loans, Trade Finance, Cash management and payments). While there I migrated 70% of processes into India onto the Group footprint of Scope as an arms length offshore company, created a mirror image processing site in KL to cover DR/BCM. The next stage on the same migration journey was migrating all of South American operations into Miami while simultaneously taking operations from NYC into India and Miami.

1999 - 2001 ~2 yrs

Director - Global Head Of Fx & Treasury Operations / Head Of European Processing Centre

London / Usa / Europe

Having been headhunted from CSFB/P I moved to JP Morgan to head up the European FX/MMKTs/ Cash Derivs Operations. After 6 months I took over as Global Head of the same operations and worked on the creation of the EPC (European Processing Centre) and the subsequent migration into the EPC of all European Operations from Milan, Madrid, Paris and Frankfurt. This led to further migration of the Trading Floors with residual sales teams in each location to manage direct Client Relationships. While in this role I also migrated all Cash Operations from NYC to Delaware into the Operational Hub that JP had started there.
