My current focus is on developing a curriculum and digital tools to foster and maintain mental health in school education. The curriculum is centered on the science of stress and situated practice of self-regulation techniques such as breathwork, cognitive reappraisal, and mindfulness. Projects contributing to this work include:• Spotlighters (Erasmus+): A project involving educators, psychologists, neuroscientists, and technologists that developed six classroom lessons on the science of stress, a mini-MOOC (free online course), and ClassMood App (https://classmood.upf.edu/) – an online tool to facilitate the situated practice of self-regulation techniques. HEI partners: University of Helsinki, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, and University of Western Macedonia.• Illumine (Erasmus+): A project involving educators, psychologists, and technologists that piloted a team-based learning design (teacher inquiry) professional development process in which teachers designed, ran, and shared the results of research lessons. The aim of the research lessons were for teachers to investigate and improve their teaching practices. Digital resources were created to support research lessons on stress mindsets (beliefs about stress) and cognitive reappraisal. HEI partners: Tallinn University and University of Belgrade.• RemixED (Erasmus+): A project involving educators and researchers that developed a 20-hour teacher professional development program centered on redesigning Open Educational Resources (OER) on the science of stress (i.e. from the Spotlighters project). The redesign process involves applying inclusive design principles (Universal Design for Learning) and conducting research lessons.
