Yet with an average tenure of 6 years at each company, I have learned how to move with assurance from ‘crawl’ to ‘walk’ to ‘run’. Building the right team and evolving the operating model to correspond to your level of maturity is critical. My most recent leadership and consultancy engagements have reinforced key beliefs I hold about creating conditions for success:- Technology-enabled propositions have to be designed as part of an end-to-end customer experience- Great customer experience can’t be delivered without a great employee experience- The inseparability of customer-facing digital from a company’s wider tech ecosystem- For large enterprises, finding a way to prove value quickly, and then being able to scale great ideas equally quickly and economically is a game-changer- Seeking out detractors is always a good idea. Consensus is not always possible or desirable, but alignment following respectful debate is a powerful thingFinally, key to all the wins I’ve had to date has been professional relationships based on trust and investment in mutual success. I always try to show up demonstrating empathy, respect and integrity.
