A 20+ year Engineering career has provided me with a breadth of valuable experiences that I draw on every day for myself as an Engineering Manager and Project Engineer, for the teams I lead and for the customers I deliver successful technical outcomes to.With experience delivering to the Australian Defence Force, various State Government, Australian Federal Government, Oil and Gas, Utilities and Commercial sectors, every customer environment is different in their approach to technical delivery, their risk profiles and their engagement styles. What never changes is my desire to deliver outcomes for my customers, on time, on budget, with minimal impact on existing operations, all while keeping them informed and consulted along the way.From my involvement in bid preparation, requirements definition and analysis, system design, commissioning, acceptance testing, and through life support, valuable knowledge has been gained for the execution and management of all phases of the Engineering Lifecycle, and most importantly how to drive from one phase to the next.Communicating up, down and across the organisational structure is essential. Having worked across various technical domains including hardware and software engineering, systems engineering and integration of security and communication systems, I am at home architeecting system designs, providing technical guidance to my teams and peers, leading them towards the business and project objectives while listening to and understanding their feedback. Additionally my professionalism and experience working within large organizations gives me the skills to communicate effectively to upper management both internally and externally.Functionally my Engineering Management skillset also extends to; Subcontractor management and driving delivery of contracted scope, Project Management following earned value management principles and reporting into cost schedulers, and the appreciation of commercial contract principles to ensure those aspects of projects are always considered.The ever changing technical landscape and new methodologies always provides something new to learn, and the satisfaction that is achieved from completing a complex and hard fought project is why I will never tire of my role developing and delivering solutions and leading talented Engineering teams.
