From there I went on to serve my country in the Royal Dutch Army and upon the completion of a 6 year term, I joined Lombard International Assurance in Luxembourg as an account executive responsible for the Dutch and Belgian markets. During a vacation to Costa Rica far from the everyday life of suits, ties and business meetings I discovered an energy that I just could not shake, it inspired me to return to Costa Rica and make the southern pacific coast my new home. I managed the Hotel Posada in Playa Tortuga for 4 years and then went on to work in sales with the Ventana Del Pacifico development group. For 10 Years I hosted their guided property tours introducing 100’s of new clients to the beauty of the Ballena Coast. Many of these clients are now my neighbors. Century 21 Ballena Properties recently got Awarded Best Office in Central America for 2018, and in the top 3 for 2016, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Top Team Award in Central America for 2018, Marcel van Willigen got Awarded Top Producer in Central America for 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
