Havana, Cuba
Professional Photographer based in Havana, Cuba. I studied Graphic Design at the Superior Institute of Design in Cuba, where I graduated from in 2013, and worked as a Design and Photography Professor until 2016. Since then, I have collaborated and worked as a photographer with several magazines, press media, Grammy Award winning musicians and as an organizer and instructor of photographic workshops in Cuba. My photographs have been exhibited in different personal and collective exhibitions in Cuban galleries and has served to illustrate various books and commercial campaigns in countries like Spain and the U.S. My training in design has a strong influence in my photography, with the use colors, lights, sense of space, and composition as resources to tell stories, document, and transcend the superficial vision of the fascinating and bitter social reality that reigns in the daily life of Cuba. Growing up in a country full of life, colors, and history took me to its streets as the first steps of my work. Working in the streets and starting to take portraits has deepened the perspective, and the human being became the main subject in my work. The Cuban people are the main element in my vision of showing the reality of the country just as it is.
