Managed a team of seven benefits professionals. Responded to employee benefits questions and inquiries regarding medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, HSA, life insurance, disability, and retirement. Handled escalated concerns. Worked with vendors on issues affecting employee benefits. Worked with HR and other colleagues in hiring and training new benefits professionals. Researched and prepared benefit appeals for presentation to the appeals committee. Took part in open enrollment testing and assisted employees and retirees with benefits enrollment during open enrollment.

Licensed Medicare broker certified to sell Medicare products in Colorado. Assisted Medicare-eligible individuals by providing education regarding different plan options and enrollment into plans suitable for their needs. AHIP certified and also certified with several of the leading carriers for the two years I was actively involved in selling. Participated in sales events at various venues.

I began working at the Society as a Specialist (MS Navigator) in the Contact Center taking calls to provide information and resources (local, state and national) to persons with MS, caregivers and anyone else affected by MS. Information & resources that were provided included those regarding disability and health insurance benefits, employment and housing. I also provided emotional support, including support to those in crisis situations, such as suicidal ideation & domestic abuse. Calls were documented thoroughly using DAP format in a shared database with accurate coding for reporting purposes. I then became a manager for MS Navigator Services Delivery providing supervisory support to a team of 6-7 navigators with regular communication on policy & procedure updates, work quality, goal progress and professional development. I took part in interviews for new hires, and I was also a trainer for new navigators. I was assigned to other teams and projects as needed for support to the MS Navigator team.

My career with Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield began in customer service helping members over the phone with their health insurance claims and benefits questions. I then moved into Training and Quality Insurance, and then became a manager of a combined Claims and Customer Service unit.
