About Marco Marcon
I was born in Italy and migrated to Australia in 1985. I was awarded a BA (Hons) by Murdoch University and a PhD by the University of New South Wales. I edited Praxis M, an Australian journal of contemporary art, and taught at several universities. I have curated several exhibitions, presented papers at national and international conferences, and published 107 essays and articles in several magazines, journals, books, and art catalogues. In 1998 I co-founded International Art Space (IAS) an organisation that I have directed ever since. In 2009 I created ‘SPACED’, an international program of socially engaged art projects in Australian rural and remote communities. In 2013 I was awarded the prestigious Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship in recognition of my contribution to Australia's contemporary art culture
