Marc Storms is Belgian and has lived since November 2006 in Brazil. For the NGO CESE, Salvador, Brazil, he did an information audit and constructed a management system for the storage and retrieval of documents.He did not to return to his job at the VVBAD (Flemish association of libraries, archives and documentation centres) based in Belgium, where he was during 25 years executive director with extensive knowledge of library and archive issues. Marc wanted a new challenge, abroad Europe. He uses his experience in organizing and structuring information to improve social-profit Brazilian organizations, In 2008 he moved to São Paulo. Since then he has developped internet sites with the CMS Drupal. During the World Football Cup in Brazil (2014), he worked a year at the Consulate of Belgium in São Paulo. In April 2014, he created an online database to register the heritage that Belgian artists and companies created and still create in Brazil, see http://belgianclub.com.br/heritage.In April 2017, he investigated the "Vila Belga" in Santa Maria (RS-Brazil) which resulted in the candidacy and winning of the Prize for Belgian heritage, an initiative of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the King Baudouin Foundation.In September 2018 he published his first book in Portuguese "Ad. H. van Emelen: a trajetoria de um artiste belga em São Paulo". A year later, in November 2019, appeared his second book "Sabores belgas no Brasil".From 2020 until 2022, he researched one of the first Belgian migrations to Brazil that occured in 1844. He was curator of the exhibition “Passado e presente: memória e presença dos descendentes de imigrantes da colônia belga Ilhota - SC” that was on shown June - November 2022, approved by the Brazilian tax shelter Lei Rouanet.In October 2024 his third book “Inspirando futuros: trajetórias passadas e presentes das mulheres belgas no Brasil” (Inspiring futures: past and present trajectories of Belgian women in Brazil), also approved by Lei Rouanet, was published.
