The time I spent in Alberta Environment and Parks was productive and furthered my understanding and experience of working in a professional environment. I worked under the supervision of a capable Economist, Catalina Solano and researched the impacts of a potential infestation of zebra and quagga mussels in the province of Alberta. I found that the impact of an infestation would most affect water-based infrastructure. Additionally, Alberta's current Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program is of a high standard. Thus, the likelihood of mussel infestation is low to moderate due to the mandatory boat inspections and the distance from highly infested water bodies.
