Lead the implementation of the telecommunications asset portfolio into the Transmission Business processes as an integral part of the network business asset base.Primary Duties & Responsibilities ▪ Development of the telecommunications business investment portfolio. ▪ Build the methodology for the assessment of the telecommunications asset risk. ▪ Provide a framework for the commercial justification of telecommunications assets within the network renewal program for submission to the Australian Energy Regulator.▪ Facilitate the provision of expenditure between regulated and unregulated portions of telecommunications services.▪ Development of strategies for the future development of the telecommunications network.

Following my participation in a diagnostic of the existing Works Program Process in the business, I was selected to undertake the lead role in implementing a new works program process covering all work undertaken in the business. This involved the management of 14 sub-projects focussed on improving the way people worked collaboratively to streamline the works process.

Responsibilities included:▪ Developing the strategy for Transend's telecommunications network;▪ Implementation of the principles of asset management for Transend's portfolio of telecommunications assets.▪ The development of future telecommunications projects (for the next 5 years) for assessment by the Australian Energy Regulator to allow for the continued operation of the telecommunications network in accordance with the National Electricity Rules and in order to maintain a safe and efficient transmission system.▪ The development and implementation of an asset risk methodology for the telecommunications assets at Transend networksI developed a leadership role within the team and helped the organisation drive a mindset change in the analysis of capital expenditure programs. The outcome was that the asset replacements and project justification was more analytical and provided a defendable position with regard to the eventual project proposal.I was also Transend's representative on the ENA Telecommunications Coordination Working Group which has been considering the coordination between power and telecommunications networks in line with the requirements of AS 3835.

As acting manager of Network Performance and Strategies I lead the team responsible for the strategy development of all of the asset categories for Transend and coordinated the finalisation of the documents required for the revenue reset submission.

During my time in the telecommunications engineering team, I was responsible for the detailed design and project management of various aspects of Transend's statewide telecommunications network. My project experience involved:▪ In 2006 I developed a new telephone system strategy moving the internal telephone network towards an IP telephony technology providing greater desktop integration with a design which maintained the high reliability of telephone services.▪ I implemented the strategy in 2010 with the expansion of Transend's accomodation at Maria St. The implemented design developed a unique telephone architecture which enables the connection of external customers to the telephone infrastructure, with IP telephony provided to the business desktop environment whilst maintaining the reliability of traditional TDM telephony technology in the operational environment.▪ I managed the implementation of a telecommunications system for the operation of a special protection scheme which enables the operation of Basslink with the Tasmanian electricity system.▪ I managed the development of optical fibre repeater sites and the rebuild of the Tasmanian Governments Optical Fibre network. In this capacity I was responsible for liaison with the government.▪ I provided the design and management of various microwave radio system designs including the analysis and implementation of passive billboard reflectors.▪ I have undertaken various projects for the implementation of SDH and PDH multiplexer systems as well as developed various operations and maintenance systems.
