Profile bio

About Marcus Gavin

For 20+ years, I have grown from designing automated functional test systems used in the manufacture and verification of electronics hardware to managing large teams of engineers focused on validating product requirements and finding bugs so customers won't. I relish opportunities to leverage my experience by managing and working with engineering teams to efficiently develop novel test solutions. My desire to work in both the hardware and software domains led me to define verification and validation methodologies, select measurement instrumentation, design fixtures, and develop python and LabVIEW based scripts for products spanning embedded controllers, RF, semiconductor, and power electronics.During my tenure with National Instruments, I coordinated with R&D and manufacturing teams to improve test yields and reduce test times through debugging, technical enhancements, and process modifications. Acting as a technical lead, I coached and mentored junior engineers to help accelerate their growth while architecting complex test solutions. With Soliton I built on my experience leading off-shore teams of engineers and working with clients to resolve the challenges they faced with semiconductor validation. When I joined SunPower, I had the opportunity to apply my testing experience to a domain I'm passionate about: renewable energy. I initially focused my energy on learning the technology such that now in my current role I am able to lead a large team of validation and QA engineers focused on ensuring the quality of our energy storage systems. I continued to grow as a manager and develop new teams towards similar goals when I worked for Enphase and now with Generac.

Listed skills include Test Engineering, Test Automation, System Design, Labview, and 34 others.
