About Marcus Gibson
After publication of my first novel aged 21, I worked briefly in media including script editing, TV/radio presenting, corporate spokesperson, and TVC production. I then became a software developer, business analyst, and knowledge officer in sectors including IT, engineering, pharmaceuticals, and property. In 9 years at Lend Lease, I developed solutions for global financial reporting, fund modeling, BD, project control, and collaboration. In '05 I became Knowledge Manager - Asia Pac., serving >3,000 staff in 103 offices and 9 countries, acclaimed by 'Inside Knowledge' (06/05) as “the most unique and effective system of its kind in the world.” In 2006 I was selected by The Climate Project to be trained by former US VP Al Gore to deliver his presentation from ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, and in 2007-2019 attended 6 summits with Mr Gore as a mentor and MC. I've delivered the presentation to 4,000+ people, and spoken in a wide range forums including conferences, public events and lectures incl. 'Corporate Social Responsibility’ for AGSM (MBA Class '07).In developing Lend Lease's first Sustainability Report (2004) and implementing global non-financial reporting for 13 businesses in 42 countries, I participated in regulatory consultations in AU, US and UK, initiated the global GRI Construction and Real Estate Sector working group and Sector Supplement, and coordinated submissions to:- DJSI (sector leader, =1st, Bronze) - Oekom (‘Prime’ index, 'best of class') - CDP (sector leader, JBWGS CDLI)These results culminated in a 2009 Innovest 'Global 100' world's most sustainable corporations ranking.In 2009, I became National Environmental Manager for Fulton Hogan Australia with diverse responsibility for construction, heavy manufacturing and extractive operations. My role expanded in 2013 to include Quality and Management Systems incl. FSC accreditation of the OHS Management System, and broadened in 2017 to include Group management systems and digital transformation.
