I ensured programme output was clean to air and in accordance with the producer's wishes by controlling and co-ordinating all aspects of the studio floor and gallery in a live, rolling and fast environment. As well as reacting to breaking news, this also involved extensive pre-air blocking, shot listing and choreography to make effective use of all presentation areas and all cameras (robotic, hand-held and jib). I mixed fast paced, live programming with a Grass Valley Kalypso mixing desk and Abekas DVE, ensuring that all visual transitions and effects were timely, clean and in accordance with the director’s wishes. I also worked on many OBs including the funeral of The Queen Mother. We always pushed the mixing desk to the brink of its capabilities, making this a very demanding job.

While liaising between the gallery and graphic design team, I offered graphics (eg. weather, sport) to the gallery for live play-out in timely and efficient fashion while keeping them accurate and updated.

Responsibilities included keeping abreast of rundown/script changes and scrolling for the presenter.
