For 18 months, from January 2018 to July 2019, I served in the United States Air Force as a Space Systems Operator (1C6X1). During my training, I was praised by the 533rd Training Squadron's leadership for delivering an outstanding presentation about how our adversaries could hypothetically harm space assets. This inspired a near-immediate change in the curriculum for all future trainees to make presentations on threats to space assets, rather than general space topics. After graduating, I was transferred to the 18th Space Control Squadron and assigned to the "Space Console Operator" (SCO) position on the operations floor. As a SCO it was my responsibility to keep the Space Catalog up-to-date through the completion of daily tasks. These tasks culminated in the delivery of unclassified products to the space-track website. The data from these products would then be used by military and civilian customers from around the world for the purposes such-as GPS-operations, weather monitoring, orbital debris tracking, and more. Ultimately, my service was cut short for suffering too many failures on the Air Force PT test.
