Currently working on minor school refurbishment schemes in the Lancashire Area. Schemes include Window replacement works, flat roof upgrades to improve Thermal Efficiency and toilet refurbishment to improve the children’s welfare. I undertake the role of Project Manager to deliver the scheme on behalf of either the Diocese or Council to improve the the aesthetics of the school or to improve the facilities within the school. My main tasks are to tender the project, manage the scheme on site and ensure the project is completed in a timely manner.

While working at Carillion I have been undertaking feasibility schemes for re-roofing various Educational Facilities within Stockport and preparing Condition Reports to present to both the Client and Head Teacher's.Asbestos Roof Replacement – Working closely with the Head Teacher to ensure that the roof is replaced in a timely manner during the school holiday period. Working with specialist contractors and the Asbestos Manager to ensure the works are completed to current standards and Codes of Practice. This includes the preparation of the Designer Risk Assessment, Tender documents and Building Regulation Submission due to upgrading the Thermal Performance of the roof.I have also been involved in space rationalisation for the current office accomodation to help bring outlying offices into the one building.Undertaken Condition Surveys to lifeLEISURE Centres within the Borough of Stockport to enable them to plan future Maintenance works.

Undertaking roof coating replacement using a Liquid Applied Roof Membrane system to various Primary and Secondary Schools within the Borough of Stockport. The total cost for this scheme was £1.9M and was carried out while the schools were occupied. The project involved the full design service from survey with specialist manufacturer to preparation of drawings and tender documentation. Also during the works I acted as Contract Administrator and dealt with the schools on a regular basis to deal with any specific issues during the contract.Undertaking DDA Improvement Works to various locations within the Borough. The works involved undertaking detailed surveys of the residential blocks to determine the extent of the works which included upgrading various doors to meet current standards, external areas to enable improved parking provision and general access into the individual blocks. The improvements were put out on a traditional contract and included all the tender documentation being prepared.

 Since joining Urban Vision Partnership Ltd I had been working as an Architectural Technician for the Regeneration Team. These duties included the production of tender drawings, assisting the Quantity Surveyor with the compilation of the Bill of Quantities; production of the Risk Assessment sheets for each individual contracts, issuing Architects Instructions and holding site meetings with the appointed Contractor. I have also undertaken feasibility surveys of properties covering both internal and external elements, producing the drawings. I have submitted Planning and Building Regulation Applications for various projects. I have used NBS in the preparation of various work schedules for residential refurbishment. I was involved in the process of undertaking a Stock Condition Survey of approximately 3000 properties for the preparation of a PFI bid for monies to upgrade various properties. I was the Clerk of Works on the building of a new IT unit for the training of new personnel within the existing site boundary. One of my final projects involved carrying out a full inspection of Salford Art Gallery to ascertain the extent of repairs for preparing a bid for External funding to carryout the necessary repairs to bring the building back to its former condition.

Main duties undertaken during this period was the updating of drawings on AutoCad prior to schemes commencing on site. I produced a repairs schedule and additional relevant details for concrete repairs to a major refurbishment scheme. During this time I undertook basic condition surveys of diocesan residences for a planned maintenance programme. These surveys encompassed the production of a measured survey of both the property and the surrounding estate. Another assignment was to produce a measured survey of a three storey 1980’s office block and the subsequent plan preparation for the client.

The duties carried out have built upon the skills I obtained during my placement year with the University. Since commencing employment I have been responsible for managing two large scale student refurbishment contracts, including site management and dealing with Valuations prepared by an external Quantity Surveyor. Other projects have included the conversion of a library into a state of the art computer cluster for the School of Modern Languages. This particular project involved close liaison with our in house Electrical Engineer to ensure full compliance with regulations. I have also undertaken a Schedule of Condition of a residential property prior to its refurbishment and subsequently, became responsible for the refurbishment of the building. My responsibilities encompassed the initial measured survey and dealings with fellow professionals throughout, to ensure that the project was satisfactorily completed. Various problems arose during the project duration proving it to be a difficult undertaking but by exercising my transferable skills:- communication, teamwork, problem solving and Information Technology, I satisfied the client by completing the refurbishment in time and to their exacting standards. Other functions carried out during my work in the design office have necessitated compiling a defects inspection of all buildings prior to writing the specification for the works. The Condition Surveys have been used to detail the works required to update the building in terms of a refurbishment scheme.
