● Reporting directly to the Principal, Sprint Specialists work closely with School Leadership, teachers, scholars and families to oversee and manage the entire special education process to ensure scholars are being assessed and receiving the academic services necessary to meet or exceed grade level expectations. ● Day to day oversight of end-to-end special education process.● Identification and segmentation of academic emergencies in need of additional supports based on assessment of quantitative and qualitative data.● Execution of processes to obtain academic services including parental consents, assignment and tracking of academic interventions, referrals, monitoring of CSE actions, and CSE escalations as needed.● For all referrals and re-evaluations, development of compelling fool proof cases to facilitate CSE approval of academic services required by scholar.● Parental engagement throughout end-to-end process.● Management of teachers around deadlines specific to securing and/or maintaining academic services for scholars.● Document management including maintenance of special education paperwork and creation of schedules for related service providers.● Day-to-day management of Sprint Associate, school psychologists, and related service providers.

● Working hand in hand with the Sprint Specialists in oversight and management of the entire special education process to ensure scholars with mental, psychological, learning, behavioral, or physical disabilities are being assessed and receiving the services necessary to promote rapid student achievement. ● Develop a holistic understanding of the school model to diagnose data trends, support in the creation of individual educational plans, and help scholars and families get special education services to ultimately drive change in educational practice.● Own decision-making around scholars who need special education services and have a responsibility for pushing those cases through the educational bureaucracy. ● Use strong decision-making, public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills in order to collaborate with scholars, parents, staff members, related service providers and teachers from various departments to plan short or long-term special services for children with exceptional needs.● Coordinate curricular resources, evaluating special education programs, implementing state curriculum guidelines, enhancing productivity of existing personnel, training teaching staff, developing individualized education programs (IEPs), and remaining in instant communication with the schools CSE representative.● Facilitating IEP meetings using a strengths based and family centered approach.● Coordinating with the student's special education team to ensure all documents are completed in a timely manner (according to state, local, and school policies and procedures) prior to IEP meetings. Connect with the special education team to ensure all team members (including parents) are prepared for the content of the meeting. ● Coordinating with the special education team to complete annual IEP progress reports and provide trimester IEP progress reports to parents/guardians. ● Maintaining student files (paper and electronic) according to school and DOE standards.
