Pursued entrepreneurial ambition and founded PurePots Healthy foods. Having tested the product at festivals, acquired seed capital and took it to the high street with two outlets employing 19 staff. Secured our second site in the heart of a new multimillion pound sought after development in the centre of Bath, which broke even in year one turning over £120,000. Setting up a business, especially in the economic climate of the time, was both challenging and rewarding. My roles within the business allowed me to develop a very strong and varied skill set, they included: Project Managing shop fits, managing supply chains, developing and monitoring a large portion of our operation procedures at all levels,Working with a graphic designer and programmer to create and develop our brand and its surrounding collateral (website, packaging etc.) with innovative marketing solutions to help us stand apart. Implementing information flow systems across all aspects of the business to ensure that, as directors, we had the data needed to make decisions and plan ahead.As a Director of a limited company I have had exposure to P&L, cash flow management, budgets, company reporting and board meetings. I have also had the opportunity to take responsibility of numerous ideas and project managing them from concept to implementation, while assessing their scope to obtain their impact on the business and then collecting data to monitor their progress.

Joining this company in its early stages of entering the Cloud Computing Platform market and seeing considerable growth during my time there meant that my role was always varied. I was responsible for creating web content, both promotional and technical, implementing and monitoring the software used by the marketing and sales teams, constantly looking to improve the efficiency of these systems and working closely with the sales team to address any issues that they were facing. I was also in charge of marketing analytics and business intelligence, reporting to VP of Global Marketing and ensuring that relevant news and market analysis was quickly circulated to the areas of the business where it could be put to best use. Before finishing with Abiquo I had started to become involved in analyst relations as well, setting up meetings for the CEO with analysts from companies such as Gartner and Tier 451.

The modular programme allowed me to build a broad business knowledge base with a foundation in finance but also including marketing, business and law. It is, however, the interaction between them that captivated my attention and drives me to pursue a career in business strategy. University has enabled me to develop my skills base and has ingrained in me a need to solve problems by thinking critically. Group work incited communication and flexibility, while individual assignments urged self motivation, discipline and focus, culminating in the voluntary undertaking of a dissertation.
