Auckland District Law Society Inc. provides a range of highly successful commercial services to the nationwide legal profession. These include the provision of legal forms in both hard copy and electronic formats (WebForms), the twice yearly publication of the New Zealand Lawyers Directory, the Legal Practice Manual, Continuing Legal Education seminars and conferences, the Law Society Store and numerous collegial and networking opportunities. In addition to commercial services the society also has 17 special interest committees resourced by volunteers from the membership. The surplus generated by these successful commercial services ensures practitioners’ annual membership fees are kept as low as possible. The General Manager role was the culmination of a number of years of change and restructure. My responsibilities also reflect those shown as Director Member Services but with the addition of a greater business development focus and the continuation of some historic responsibilities from the Acting General Manager role.

The creation, management and reporting of budgets at a product and departmental level. Managing special interest committees resourced by members of the profession to consider and research new opportunities. In addition to the above I was also involved with the various society committees and was the secretary of the Members Special Fund, a benevolent fund that provides members of the legal profession and their families with financial and personal support.
