Connecting theory to practice and praxis, ideas to people and results are themes that underpin my career. Building on a teaching background, I then shifted to the charitable sector for two decades of program design, fund development, community investment and management roles in workplace and family literacy, ESL and FSL and three decades of fund development. Background: -headhunted to be the first Executive Director of a charitable organization, Literacy Partners of Manitoba. Leading a strong provincial team of coordinators and head office staff, she tripled its income, expanded its reach and membership, and raised $4m for adult learners. -Moved to Victoria to complete my master's thesis on collaboration in health literacy and was hired as the first Stewardship and Recognition Officer at UVic, instituting new polies and procedures to connect donors to greater accountability for their gifts. -headhunted once again and to spearhead a new role as Director of Community Initiatives and Grants with Canada's second oldest community foundation, that has a vision of "connecting people who care with causes that matter", where I directed the community granting portfolio, Community Advisor program and proactive outreach to NGOs in Victoria. I then shifted my passion for community investment to steward and solicit individual donors for selfless philanthropic gifts to community charities.-Using her M.Ed, I moved to Calgary to take over the the Major Gifts program for Heart and Stroke Asscn of AB, then was lured back to Victoria to the Major Gifts role for United Way Greater Victoria and raised $2M then repeated this focus at the largest poverty-facing org in the region for Our Place Society.-Have erved as a presenter and on national committees with the Community Foundations of Canada, the Public Health Association of BC, United Way, and AFP Vancouver Island.-am an avid chorister and vocal improv singer and mom of two adult brilliant professionals, so I love to sing, hike, e bike, spread optimism and abundance, and and see people in harmony in all walks of life.
