I coordinated the work on the relationship between hormonal contraceptive and HIV in order to ensure that views and priorities of African women are considered in the engagement at difference levels; Coordinated engagement of civil society organizations in influencing funding mechanisms (PEPFAR COP processes and GFATMP); Participated in influencing HIV related legal and policy environment; Provided strategic guidance and timely implementation of the SRHR intervention; I did fundraising and resources mobilization; Informed the review of National HIV Strategic Plan 2011/12 – 2014/15 and influenced the new National HIV Strategic Plan 2015/16 – 2019/2020; Convened trainings for young Women Living with HIV on Sexual Reproductive Health& Rights; Took lead in developing the toolkit and on Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights research; Took lead in implementation of research on SRHR violations experienced by WLHIV; Developed written reports and advocacy bulletins, and documenting case studies and best practices; Contributed to developing appropriate strategies for advocacy with partners; Identified and developed relationships with key strategic partners in government, civil society, media and the international community for promoting Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights of Women Living with HIV; Built appropriate partnerships with other organizations and the line Ministries to review policies and policy work in relation to the Sexual Reproductive & Health & Rights Priorities for Women Living with HIV; Took lead in organizing and facilitating Advocacy fora for the project which will include dialogue meetings with policy makers, civil society and international organizations to share experiences and lessons learnt from the Project, promote cooperation, raise awareness of efforts to prevent further violation of HIV positive Women’s Sexual reproductive Health & Rights, and assist in development of monitoring and evaluation plan for the Project.

I mobilised resources for the NAFOPHANU. For instance, I spearheaded the development of a 3-year DGF concept and proposal which was funded; facilitated collaborations and partnerships between district leaderships, central government and other stake holders with PLHIV; Coordinated the 1st ever PLHIV Stigma Index Survey in Uganda in 2013 (a study by and with the PLHIV); Participated in the development of the 1st draft National Employment HIV and AIDS Non-Discrimination Regulation based on Employment Act No. 6, 2006 and the ILO Recommendation No. 200; Coordinated successful advocacy against the extremely bitter version of the combined non-film coated Lamivudine/ Tenofovir (TDF/3TC) 300mg/300mg which affected adherence though pharmacologically, it had the right ingredients. It has been recalled by the National Drug Authority from all the facilities and replaced with film coated version of the TDF/ 3TC; To participated in monitoring of ART clinics and advocated against ART drug stock outs. As a result, emergency delivery of ARVs drugs took place in some facilities by the National Drug Authority; I developed tools to facilitate data collecting on ART drugs; To facilitated the development of advocacy plans for the district PLHIV Forums in 4 districts; Participated in influencing the targets for PEPFAR Country Operation Plan 2012/2013; I built effective communication networks and partnering relationships between the various stakeholder groups including the media; Promoted and publicised initiatives that increased awareness on the plight of PLHIV; Developed the plan for Advocacy department; and ensured regular reporting based on organisation’s report schedules

I strengthened the capacity of East Timorese Women’s network of 24 women’s organisation for a more empowered and effective engagement with different decision makers in the transition and peace building processes, including monitoring the gender sensitivity of implementation of the UN Resolution 1325 and CEDAW Committee concluding observations; Facilitated establishment and fine-tuning of a more strategic, feasible and realistic long-term strategic plan; Assisted the staff of network in developing methods to better inform and engage constituent members regarding the network’s programmes and campaigns through information and education, and the production of useful information and educational materials; Provided training, mentoring and job coaching for staff members of the network and member organisations in human rights, policy research and analysis on gender issues; Introduced the network to various approaches and methodologies aimed at changing attitudes and behaviour and in the long term at changing official policies, involving wide and creative networking at government, NGO and community level, and collaboration with other monitoring and research bodies such as the CEDAW Watch Group; Supported network in developing an effective lobbying strategy for identified target groups, including policy-makers aimed at policy change and legislative development on issues such as gender based violence and women’s land and property rights; Facilitated the strengthening of network in developing quick responses to opportunities for input to policy makers, including commenting on draft laws and government policies, and enabling members to work effectively with government committees; Supported network to promote suitable micro-enterprises for women and to lobby for better access to markets for women.

I guided Southern Ethiopia People's Development Association (SEPDA) – the partner of Voluntary Services Overseas Ethiopia in developing an HIV and AIDS Work Place policy; Mobilized resources through proposal writing, at least 4 proposals were funded. Provided technical support to SEPDA staff and 19 partner Nationalities Development Associations in project management. Provided input to Gender Policy and Gender Mainstreaming guideline; Facilitated the integration of gender and HIV and AIDS in the overall strategic planning of SEPDA. Facilitated the implementation of gender policy and gender mainstreaming guideline. Provided training for gender focal points in gender and HIV and AIDS mainstreaming; Facilitated strategic partnerships and networking for gender equality and HIV and AIDS mainstreaming; Provided technical support to the development of relevant materials; and collected and promoted good practices and lessons learned, contributing to a collection of replicable good practices for gender equality programming.

I established an HIV and AIDS information desk and the culture of discussing HIV and AIDS freely was established at the program office. The partners of VSO Vietnam replicated the same practice in their offices; Gender and HIV and AIDS issues were considered in staff meetings/ agenda as important issues for discussions; I strengthened the capacity of 8 VSO staff, 25 volunteers and 25 supervisors of the volunteers from partners organizations in gender and HIV and AIDS mainstreaming; The Executive Committee and management of VSO Vietnam became gender sensitive which facilitated the process for producing gender sensitive Program Area Plans (PAP) for all departments; I produced training materials and most important the mainstreaming toolkit which will facilitate sustainability of the actions. I up dated the VSO Vietnam In-Service country paper for HIV and AIDS which contextualizes the global HIV and AIDS work place policy; Many testimonies were documented about the approach that I used, it was participative, and I ensured consultation with a wide cross-section of stakeholders working on human rights, gender and HIV and AIDS. I facilitated meaningful involvement of the beneficiaries of VSO Vietnam (people living with HIV and AIDS and the persons with disabilities) at policy and programming levels of the organization; I established very good collaboration between VSO Vietnam program and other strategic partners to promote human rights, gender equality and HIV and AIDS mainstreaming.

I strengthened the capacity of the district technocrats and policy makers in gender responsive budgeting that facilitated their plans and budget to be more gender sensitive compared to the previous plans they produced; Implemented program plan on schedule and made timely reporting to the Executive Director and Donors. Enhanced the relationship between ACFODE and the media to extent that sometimes I was given free air time to go for interactive television talk show. My advocacy was evidenced based and thus my program and the way I packaged my messages was very attractive to the media; I establish district network to influence the planning and budgeting processes of the local governments in the project areas; I produced training materials to facilitate sustainability of the advocacy for gender responsive budgeting in the local governments; Coordinated the process for producing a book and a documentary covering 20 years of ACFODE' existence; entitled: ACFODE' Leap of Faith: The struggle for women's empowerment in Uganda; and Actively participated in advocating for ensuring that the gender dimensions were taken into consideration during the Poverty Eradication Action Plan (PEAP) review processes.

Provided strategic direction to the organisation by turning around a failing service delivery organisation into a vibrant advocacy organisation in line with its vision and mission. Facilitated the processes for Developing and implementing plans (strategic, annual, quarterly plans); Received an award from Wakiso District HIV and AIDS Committee (DAC) for my outstanding contribution toward promoting human rights, fighting HIV and AIDS and gender based violence in 2004; Established strategic collaborations and partnerships with various stakeholders that facilitated easy access to public information and influence over government decisions that promoted gender and HIV and AIDS mainstreaming; Strengthened the capacity of staff and community based organisations and I provided technical leadership on protecting human rights, promoting gender equality and HIV and AIDS mainstreaming; I facilitated knowledge management and learning in the organisation through production of advocacy training materials, updating technical papers and policy briefs for the Board, documenting lessons learned. Produced and enforced gender and HIV and AIDS work place policies; Mobilised resources that sustained the programmes of the organization; I ensured that programmes/projects were implemented on schedule and timely reporting (annual, quarterly and donor reports); and I appraised staff and facilitated their career development through implementation of staff development plan

Mobilized and trained 575 people as district gender civic educators in Masaka district during the 2000 referendum process in Uganda; Prepared training materials and simplified some of the manuals which were already produced by Uganda Electoral Commission to suit the training needs of the participants; Guided the trained district gender civic educators to develop their action plans; Sensitized the 557 female and male district gender civic educators about the difference between the movement system and multi party system; Enhanced awareness about the women’s human rights in related to international and national legal frameworks; Provided on-going support to the trained district civic educators to implement their action plans; Advocated for equal participated of female and male in the politics of the country; Sensitized the people of Masaka district about the importance of women’s participation in the referendum; Collected weekly activity reports from the district gender civic educators and compiled monthly and end of project reports (narrative and financial); Monitored and supervised the district civic educators; Organized exchange foras to the district civic educators to share experiences about the lessons learned, challenges, and achievements.
