I am a skilled construction professional with extensive experience of advising architectural practices on establishing practical management strategies to minimise their operational risks and to avoid claims.I act as a forensic architect writing reports on architects’ professional negligence, building regulations compliance and construction defects.I have been a member of the RIBA Professional Services Contract Editorial Group since 2016 and am adept at reviewing schedules of services. I drafted the RIBA Building Regulations Principal Designer Professional Services Contract (PSC) and the 2024 amendments to the Standard, Domestic and CDM Principal Designer PSCs.I have given general and project-specific liability and risk management advice to architects on a wide variety of topics, including but not limited to: - Practice Management- Maintaining records, including when adopting third party cloud-based information or collaboration platforms- Defining the limits of design roles and responsibilities relative to others - including in relation to modern methods of construction (MMC), particularly volumetrics and CLT- Contract Administration- The draft Building (Appointment of Persons, Industry Competence and Dutyholders) Regulations (APICD) and PAS 8671:2022I have written subject-specific and general guidance papers, legislative consultation responses and the associated guidance to architects, as well as CPD presentations on numerous topics and inhouse training policies.During my time at Wren Managers I gained significant experience of architects' professional indemnity insurance. Latterly I was a member of the ‘Managers’ Board’ responsible for the day-to-day financial, regulatory and strategic oversight of Wren on behalf of its Members, and also a member of the Wren’s Emerging Risks group identifying risks that may affect the Association, architects, and the wider construction industry.I provided technical support to the claims team, acting as an inhouse expert prior to the appointment of independent experts.My husband and I bought a wreck of a Victorian mid-terrace house in 2016, which we have been spending our money and time retrofitting ever since.
